“I have said this many times but it's worth repeating: Daniel Barraud is without question one of the finest growers in all of the Mâconnais and there is a credible argument to be made that his remarkable consistency vaults him right to the very top of the list…this man almost never misses.”—Burghound
We are excited to present yet another stellar lineup from winemaker Daniel Barraud and family. As finely crafted as the estate's 2008 crus were, Barraud's 2009s have taken things to an entirely new level. His 2009s are more complete wines, with an added layer of juicy white fruit that makes them more than approachable right out of the gate; they are also unquestionably terroir-true, with the limestone edge and mineral energy of Vergisson coming through loud and clear in every single bottle.
Daniel Barraud and his son Julien care for all their vineyards 100% organically; the family also shuns artificial yeasts in the cellar and adds very low sulfur to the wines. As the above quote from Burghound confirms, the Barrauds are truly one of the top artisanal winemaking families in the Mâconnais, and our special selection of his 2009s—many available by just single barrel—are some of the most expressive, satisfying and pure wines to emerge from this very excellent vintage.
