We could wax rhapsodic for hours about just how delicious this Bourgogne Blanc is but by the time we finished with our song, the wine would be long sold out.  This is an occasion where straight talk is not only appreciated, it is necessary.  Our selection of Bourgogne Blanc from Fred Magnien from 2009 has got to be the white Burgundy buy of the year—our top pick for pure, unadulterated Chardonnay pleasure with a price that you’ll be hard-pressed to beat.  

There is nothing simple about this basic white Burgundy—winemaker Fred Magnien sourced only the finest fruit from in and around Puligny-Montrachet for this gem, and in its aromas and flavors you’d swear you were drinking a village Puligny.  It’s got pep and poise, plenty of juice and a whole lot of white pepper energy to keep the palate clean and the taste buds happy.  But simple, again, it is not—nothing Fred Magnien ever crafts is as one-dimensional as that. The 2009 vintage up and down the Cote d’Or was extraordinary indeed, and resulted in white Burgundy with all the lift, precision and chiseled flavors you’d expect plus an added helping of grace and flesh that truly makes this wine, of all selections, irresistible.  And, like we have to mention it again, it’s a killer deal for a great white Burg that you can, and should, enjoy every day.
