2010 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc "Guigne Chevres"
The finest wines from Sancerre can (and do) age in step with the finest
white Burgundy—and a well-aged Sancerre is a pleasure that no serious
cellar should be without. This new single-vineyard Sancerre from Domaine
Vacheron is a wine for which we wish we could speed up time. Steely and
pure today, with a rich core of white fruit and chalky essence, “Guigne
Chèvres” is completely organic/biodynamic and only a handful of cases
were produced in 2010, a year of very low yields yet extraordinary wine.
Like Domaine Didier Dagueneau, like Francis and Pascal Cotat, Domaine Vacheron represents the very best of Sancerre—and it goes without saying that with “Guigne Chèvres” the Vacherons are not only presenting a stunning snapshot of Sancerre terroir but also showcasing the heights that Sancerre can achieve. For us, this is a landmark wine and one that will be a treasure for five to 10 years, if not more.

Loire Valley
ORGANIC. An elegant combination of silk and mineral tension. Aromas of Meyer lemons, lime zest and crushed oyster shells on the nose. The mouth is supple and long, with flavors of lemon, mint and white peaches. A long finish suggests more crushed chalk and sea salt. Aged for 10 months in upright wood tanks.
