2010 Eve et Michel Rey Macon-Vergisson La Roche
This is the bottle that a well-stocked cellar—regardless of whether you’ve got 50 bottles or 500—shouldn’t be without. “La Roche” is the top terroir of the rock of Vergisson, a vineyard that cozies right up to Pouilly-Fuissé and delivers the same vibrant energy and supple, ripe fruit.
Winemakers Eve and Michel Rey make but a handful of cases each year—their very small vineyard parcels they tend completely by hand, just the two of them—which makes this wine doubly special. We have delighted in tasting this 2010 in barrel and in bottle, as the vintage is without question a great year for white Burgundy. Fruit is crisp, ripe and pure; aromas remind of spring; thirst-quenching, lingering flavors seem to last forever. A great bottle for tonight, and be sure to stash a case in the cellar and enjoy over the next three to five years.

Eve et Michel Rey Macon-Vergisson La Roche 2010
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
This wine is our favorite “La Roche”—it goes without saying that this vineyard is the insider’s secret source for white Burgundy value. From the family's older-vine holdings on the slope of Vergisson; bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of crushed stones, herbs and lemons blend with yellow flowers on the pure nose; the mouth reminds immediately of the noble cut and poise of a Puligny. Lacy and pure; flavors of lemon rind blend with classic terroir notes of chalk and smoke. Really a sensational wine and a top value, too.
