2010 Lassarat Macon-Vergisson "La Roche"
Roger Lassarat—the mayor of Vergisson and one of the village’s most respected artisans—is one of just a handful of winemakers who early on recognized the potential of “La Roche” and has year in and year out crafted a vibrant white wine (that’s still a value) from this beautiful spot in Vergisson.
When you know your terroir, you know where to look for wines that outperform—and after some 30 years kicking around the Mâconnais with the best artisans in the region, we know that "La Roche" is one of the top white Burgundy values out there, bar none.
The contrast between the wine’s fresh, steely core and its rich white fruit is what is truly captivating in 2010—the vineyard’s not called "the rock" for nothing. Crushed stones, chalk, good acidity and lots of citrus flavors is what you’ll find here, plus a brisk, clean and white pepper-dusted finish that lingers and lingers.
