Our Alto Sol (“high sun”) selections are exclusive to North Berkeley Wine and are the collective result of exhaustive cellar tastings between us and Chile's top winemakers.
All Alto Sol selections, whether unique blends or single-varietal wines, have been personally picked from what we feel are Chile's finest winemaking regions. There's no question that Chile is a mother lode of rich terroir—and when guided by the right hands, these vineyards can produce nothing less than excellent and character-rich (yet still stunningly affordable) wines, by any standard.
In partnership with two of Chile's leading winemakers and enologists, Alvaro Espinoza and Juan Carlos Faúndez, we visit cellars of local wineries and after days of tastings, assemble what we feel are terroir-pure wines with great character and that also represent great value. From the semi-arid desert of the Elqui Valley to cool coast of Leyda to the more Mediterranean vineyards of the Bio Bio Valley, we are leaving no stone unturned for our Alto Sol selections.
