“Bulands” is the last and
slowest of Barraud's vineyards to ripen, thus the added texture and
concentration here.
“The well-muscled, intense
and concentrated medium plus weight flavors possess ample dry extract and
culminate in an opulent, powerful and driving finish. This is an
impressively scaled wine for the appellation but well-balanced.”
— Burghound
2009 Daniel Barraud white Burgundy
2.1.2011
We are excited to present yet another stellar lineup from winemaker
Daniel Barraud and family. As finely crafted as the estate's 2008 crus
were, Barraud's 2009s have taken things to an entirely new level. His
2009s are more complete wines, with an added layer of juicy white fruit
that makes them more than approachable right out of the gate; they are
also unquestionably terroir-true, with the limestone edge and mineral
energy of Vergisson coming through loud and clear in every single
bottle.

Barraud Macon-Vergisson La Roche 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
The insider's white Burgundy; always outperforms. “...spiced pear and white flower aromas...the detailed, racy and minerally flavors possess slightly more prominent acidity, especially on the tension-filled, dry and punch finish.” — Burghound

Barraud Pouilly-Fuisse En France 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
In the heart of Vergisson, the “En France” vineyard combines limestone and clay soils for a wine that displays both great concentration and mineral precision. “A pretty blend of both white and yellow orchard fruit aromas trimmed in a hint of pain grillé leads to rich, supple and quite generous medium-bodied flavors that are delicious...In sum, this is solid...” — Burghound

Barraud Pouilly-Fuisse La Roche 2009

/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
This is the grand cru of the Mâconnais, one of its highest-altitude plots and certainly its most expressive. “...powerful, dense and palate staining flavors are impressively broad-scaled and deliver excellent persistence.” — Burghound

Barraud St. Veran En Creches 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
“En Crèches” sits close to the legendary “La Roche” vineyard in Pouilly-Fuissé, and if it was any more electric you could jump-start your car off it. “...citrus and white orchard fruit notes, both of which can also be found on the focused, intense and fleshy medium-bodied flavors that also possess particularly good vivacity in the context of the vintage. This should be quite good.” — Burghound

Barraud St. Veran En Pommard 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
“...medium weight flavors are even richer, more concentrated and brimming with dry extract that buffers the solid acid spine and citrusy finish. This is certainly opulent but not at all heavy or clumsy and should be excellent with just a few years in bottle.” — Burghound

Mâconnais-Burgundy
The insider's white Burgundy; always outperforms. Gorgeous lemon-butter notes with a bit of fresh mixed nuts on the nose; the mouth reminds of Puligny, with its fresh, herbal and lemony character. Wonderfully cut and precise, with an added layer of candied citrus...
