A tremendous wine and one that is always one of our favorites (as it's a killer value, too!) “Pommards” borders Pouilly-Fuisse and is very high-altitude; what you get from this location is precise, wonderfully mineral wine with great energy and concentration. Buttered white toast and lemons mix with a hint of candied orange rind on the rich nose; the mouth is dazzlingly fresh, with lemon, ginger and notes of chalk dust.
2008 Daniel Barraud white Burgundy
5.3.2010
If you are looking for the finest in Vergisson (if not in the greater
world of white Burgundy) chez Barraud is the place you'll find it. The
2008 vintage at this micro-production, organic estate couldn't be more
pleasurable—we've taken to calling it white Burgundy with the works and a
cherry on top, as just you think what's in the glass couldn't get any
better, it up and does.

The insider's white Burgundy; always outperforms. “...spiced pear and white flower aromas...the detailed, racy and minerally flavors possess slightly more prominent acidity, especially on the tension-filled, dry and punch finish.” — Burghound

Mâconnais-Burgundy
In the heart of Vergisson, the “En France” vineyard combines limestone and clay soils for a wine that displays both great concentration and mineral precision. “A pretty blend of both white and yellow orchard fruit aromas trimmed in a hint of pain grillé leads to rich, supple and quite generous medium-bodied flavors that are delicious...In sum, this is solid...” — Burghound

Barraud St. Veran En Creches 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
“En Crèches” sits close to the legendary “La Roche” vineyard in Pouilly-Fuissé, and if it was any more electric you could jump-start your car off it. “...citrus and white orchard fruit notes, both of which can also be found on the focused, intense and fleshy medium-bodied flavors that also possess particularly good vivacity in the context of the vintage. This should be quite good.” — Burghound

Barraud St. Veran En Pommard 2009
France
/
Mâconnais-Burgundy
“...medium weight flavors are even richer, more concentrated and brimming with dry extract that buffers the solid acid spine and citrusy finish. This is certainly opulent but not at all heavy or clumsy and should be excellent with just a few years in bottle.” — Burghound

“...pretty and elegant lemon rind and rose petal aromas that precede the
lightly mineral and solidly dense flavors that possess good mid-palate
fat and excellent intensity on the persistent and quite dry finish. This
is beautifully balanced and is worth a look as it should age well.” —
Burghound
