“La Croix Blanche” should be a premier cru. This shows the silk you expect from the finest Vosnes with an added concentration achieved through Bocquenet's strict selection of only the ripest grapes. This cru shows all the Vosne silk with an added touch of structure and poise that one doesn’t typically see in purple-fruited Vosne—more pepper, more heft, overall a bigger, bolder wine. Raspberry and strawberry aromas are bold, while the mouth is chiseled and pure, with a serious peppery edge. Put a case away and watch it blossom.

One cannot rush Daniel Bocquenet. Every year we visit this petite
domaine, with its three perfect crus (his “children,” says Daniel) we
wish we could fast-forward time just a tad. But there is no pushing
perfection, and certainly, the best of the best is always worth the
wait—but finally these bountiful Burgundies have hit our shores.
