Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry is made of fine wines and botanicals found in the Alpine meadows above Chambéry. Together they impart a fresh and elegant nose, with a subtle and complex palate. Ideal as an aperitif or in cocktails.

Black pepper mixes with wildflower honey and plenty of red berries on the nose—a serious sign of complexity in a white wine. Jellied red currants, a hint of mint, yellow peaches and a dose of pepper enliven the complex, saturated mouth. Really a spectacular wine yet very, very limited!

The family’s few older vines in this noble grand cru sit at the top of the slope, and deliver fruit that is well-balanced and complex, with a stony, high-altitude edge. This is a gorgeous wine, with a reserved, brooding nose of smoke and citrus; silky and weighty on the palate, with more citrus and peach. Easily decades ahead of it.

Francois Cotat Sancerre Caillottes 2010

Meyer lemon, fresh ginger and white pepper perfumes dominate; the mouth is equally defined yet is made rich with a sensation of silky, full-bodied white fruits. Ginger and more pepper give the long finish an invigorating kick. Francois has been vinifing “Caillottes” separately since 2005; the vineyard name refers to a type of soil found in Sancerre—very rocky and chalky.

The cooler vineyard site (with its older, 40+ year old vines) of “Grand Côte” is the last to be harvested of all Francois’ small parcels; it delivers fruit that is incredibly precise and yet deeply complex in flavor. A very floral nose, with herbs and honeysuckle, reveals a vibrant, energetic mouth of pure minerals and juice inspired by the wine’s “terre blanche,” or chalk soils. Bright, driven and refreshing.
