It's an unbeatable combination—classic, beautiful Barbaresco from one of the region's oldest family estates, born from one of its finest vineyards, Santo Stefano. Neive's style is above all elegant, with ethereal perfumes and persistent flavors—and prices are more than reasonable. We are so excited to welcome Castello di Neive to our portfolio, and what a way to start with this extraordinary 2007.

Castello di Neive Barbera d'Alba Santo Stefano 2009
Italy
/
Piedmont
A gorgeously fresh and persistent Barbera with classic smoke and earth on the nose, a bright floral profile and lots of spicy energy on the finish. The Stupino family purchased the famed “Santo Stefano” vineyard before it was planted to vines; it is one of Barbaresco’s most hallowed terroirs and to experience Barbera from such impressive real estate is a treat, indeed.

"The 2007 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano shows the weight and richness that is typical of this south-facing site in Neive. A rich fabric of dark fruit, fresh roses, new leather and menthol completely cover the palate. The Santo Stefano is impeccable in its generous, enveloping fruit. The intensity and sheer depth of the fruit manages to virtually bury the tannins, but they are there. As delicious as this is today, it will be even better in a few years- time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027."—The Wine Advocate
