Winemaker Anne Gros calls this ruby, nervous and wonderfully fresh wine a “true” table wine—a red that encourages one glass to follow another during the course of a leisurely meal. A blend of Carignan, Cinsault and Grenache; all tank made. A cooler, north-facing vineyard (with a blend of younger and older vines) has produced a southern wine of incredible finesse and spirit; it practically vibrates with red-fruited energy and clarity. Good spice on the nose with a palate-cleansing, invigorating mineral finish. The wine’s name, “50/50,” describes Gros’ and Tollot’s labor of love at their new Minervois domaine—all the work, from the fields to the cellar, is divided equally by the two.

Winemaker Anne Gros of Vosne-Romanee with the 2008 vintage has introduced a new labor of love and wine in Minervois. These wines—cared for, harvested and vinified in tandem with her partner Jean-Paul Tollot—are very impressive and a completely different style of Minervois wine.
