Domaine La Fourmente is owned and operated by the Pouizin family, relatives of the Vacheron-Pouizin clan, who own Clos du Caillou in Courthezon. They’ve had this property in the family since the 1920s, and over the past several decades have been farming the land organically. Stylistically speaking, you will find this old-vine (55+ years) Grenache has a lot in common with Caillou wines, especially from the 2007 vintage. The quintessential expression of spicy Grenache in the southern Rhone, with all the aromatic intensity, supple tannins and silky flavors you’ve come to expect. Brilliantly ruby-red in the glass, with perfumes of ripe red berries and plums on the nose. The mouth is juicy and savory, with wonderful texture and intensity.

very first selections from this exacting estate hail from two of the
most stunning vintages the south has seen in some time—2007 and 2009.
For serious Rhone fans, it just doesn’t get any better than this.
