“For wine lovers who enjoy Chardonnay for its minerality and its ability to convey nuances of soil and site—rather than simply for its capacity to carry new oak past the blood-brain barrier—there is no better source of wine today than the Mâconnais, especially if price is an issue.”
—Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar
It's not every day you get the keys to a winery. Our new friends at Domaine Perraud generously gave us the run of the place during our first visit—and let's just say we got a little carried away.
Wouldn't you? Our debut vintage with this wonderful Mâconnais winery was the 2005 vintage—a remarkable year all over France, but especially here. At Domaine Perraud you'll find pure, sonorous Chardonnay that resonates with citrus flavors and mineral verve. Raspberry-laced Pinot Noir, both smoky and lush. Domaine Perraud produces lively, pure terroir-driven wines that are excitingly fresh and importantly, are a great value, too.
Our selections hail from high-altitude, old-vine vineyards, including great plots near Pouilly-Fuissé and St.-Veran. Every cuvée is tank fermented to preserve each drop of freshness found in each vintage. Each bottle is also gently filtered so every sip is crystalline pure.
