What a knockout. The warm summer scent of boysenberries and blackberries mixes with a dash of pepper on the aromatic, luscious nose. This is Gamay with a more Burgundian profile, and even then it delivers a depth of flavor and creamy, rich texture that we’ve seriously seldom seen from the Loire—2009 is an extraordinary year and one that should not be missed. Black fruits dominate on the palate, with an almost meaty concentration—suggestions of purple roses, raspberry jam, fresh black plums and more blackberries abound. All tank-made, to preserve every bit of freshness and succulent fruit; bottled unfined and unfiltered. 100% organic.

south. In 2009 however we had to do a double-take as winemaker Jerome
Sauvete poured us this vibrantly fruity and fresh Gamay.

Domaine Sauvete Pineau d'Aunis Rosé Meli-Melo 2010
France
/
Loire Valley
ORGANIC! A very light pink in the glass; aromas remind of ruby grapefruit, crushed oyster shells and a touch of sea salt. The mouth is fresh, with waves of pomegranate juice mixed with tangerine and Meyer lemon zest. Winemaker Jerome Sauvète is completely dedicated to organic viticulture. A rosé from the unique Pineau d’Aunis grape, which can trace its history in the Loire back to the Middle Ages.
