All the juicy, earthy complexity of Burgundian Pinot Noir combined with the fine, chiseled personality of the mineral-rich soils of Sancerre in the Loire Valley. Sancerre Rouge is both rare and extraordinary, and is something every true Pinot lover must experience! Aromas of cherries and raspberries mix with a delicate dash of baking spices—cinnamon and cloves—on the abundantly perfumed nose. The mouth is medium-bodied and ruby-pure—this wine delivers serious cut and poise that then unwinds its nervous energy to break the flood gates with a rush of red berries and pomegranate flavors. A snappy, sour cherry finish with peppery spice reminds that you couldn’t find a better, more flexible food pair than Sancerre Rouge—no wonder Paris hoards such vinous riches all for itself!

A vibrant and steely 100% organic/biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc from a mix of flint and chalk soils in the heart of Sancerre. Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc Les Romains 2010

Loire Valley
A sensational bottling from one of the Loire’s top organic/biodynamic estates; “Les Romains” every vintage is the sine qua non of Sauvignon Blanc, nervous and lush at once, with the classic purity of the family's 100% organic/biodynamic vineyards giving every drop energy and light. Abundant aroma, lots of flavor and a vintage in the classic Loire style--a great bottle for the cellar, too.

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc 2009
France
/
Loire Valley
One of the finest and most complex Sauvignon Blanc wines we’ve tasted in a while, and the great tragedy is there just so little of it. Chalk dust, white pepper, pear skins and poached fruits mix on the angular and fresh nose. Calling any wine “perfect” is bold but this one fits the bill. Very limited!

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc Les Romains 2008
France
/
Loire Valley
A sensational bottling from one of the Loire’s top organic/biodynamic estates; “Les Romains” every vintage is the sine qua non of Sauvignon Blanc and in 2008 this great family estate pulled out all the stops. Lush, juicy aromas of sautéed pears and honeysuckle blossoms saturate the nose. There’s more structure and more flesh than is usual here...

"Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron’s sophisticated winery and ambitious plans (including commencing a program for re-propagating selection massale vines, and biodynamic certification, achieved in 2008) are the source for a great many fascinating Sancerres, and it’s clear to anyone who tastes through their cellar today and hears them discuss their wines that the best is yet to come. One of the trends I find fruitful here is the move toward larger barrels – including some foudres – and less new wood. Despite the advantages – all things considered – of 2008 over 2009 in Sancerre, the infant 2009s here display in some instances more finesse than their 2008 counterparts thanks in significant measure, I perceive, to refinements in elevage. The previous generations at Vacheron were appellation leaders in promoting Pinot Noir (a grape that has in fact been planted around Sancerre since before the phylloxera; and before Sauvignon) in top-notch rather than expendable sites, so that Pinot now makes up just over 25% of the domaine’s acreage. The younger Vacherons have eagerly followed that lead..."--The Wine Advocate
