This is Aligote made with the care and craft dedicated to top white Burgundy, a lively and pure draught of summer sun and mineral energy. Crisp apples and pears mix with spring rain on the nose; the mouth is pure, chiseled and citrus-lined, with a clean, stony finish.

A complete and very pleasing blanc. White peaches and candied lemons show on the nose; the middle is juicy and savory, with yellow peaches, blood oranges and lots of lemon zest. Full yet balanced; a glorious mouthful of white Burgundy for a very reasonable price.

Dureuil Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 2009

As always winemaker Vincent Dureuil makes one of Burgundy’s most serious Passetoutgrain wines—his is 90% Pinot Noir and just 10% Gamay. In 2009 it is a gorgeous, gulpable and very juicy red, with lots of baking spices and energy on the nose and palate. Good structure, silky tannins and plenty of pleasure here.

Plenty of red berries, sautéed in cinnamon and fresh, characterize the nose; the medium-bodied mouth shows plenty of juice and saturation with lots of black pepper energy, too. Good structure and tannins complete the Nuits profile; a wine with plenty of poise and staying power.

Dureuil Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gains 2009

A whole different level of refinement and poise; winemaker Vincent Dureuil’s Puligny is a textbook example of the herbal energy and mid-palate tension that this village delivers. Lemon oil and crushed oyster shells mix with fresh herbs on the nose; the mouth is fine and pure, with lots of yellow citrus fruit and a hint of fresh butter. Lovely and very fine.

Dureuil Rully 1er Cru Vauvry Rouge 2009

A standout and a new addition to the already stunning Rully lineup from Dureuil. This chalk-rich, very steep vineyard delivers a Pinot of serious precision and grace; its cooler ruby/violet hues reveal a pin-point and expressive nose of white pepper and crushed red berries. Hints of pie crust, black cherries and raspberries show on the pure, delineated mouth—above all this is an elegant, feminine Burgundy with plenty of charm. A stupendous value, too.

Dureuil Rully Blanc 1er Cru Meix Cadot 2009

A stunningly poised and elegant white that has again and again proven itself a treasure for the cellar. Stony structure and spice characterize the nose; the mouth is spicy and pure, with chalk, limes and concentrated white fruits. There’s enough stuffing here to unwind for ages. We’re enjoying bottles of this with 20 years of cellar age and they’re still fresh.

Dureuil Rully Blanc 2009

This “straight” Rully has all the complexity of a premier cru yet is still a value in white Burgundy. A stony, crisp nose makes way for a supple and juicy middle of white fruits and citrus zest, perfectly poised and balanced. The crisp, long finish is lively with plenty of white pepper. Vincent blends four different vineyard plots for this wine.

A floral and fruity white with plenty of energy on the palate. Delicate aromas of apple blossoms and crushed stones show on the nose; the mouth in contrast is bold and juicy, with plenty of cut and persistence. The Meyer lemon finish is invigorating and lasts for ages.
