Just to the right of “Valmur,” the grand cru “Les Clos” is one of
Chablis’ most generous wines, stacked and packed with endless ribbons of
fruit and buttery richness. Melted butter, preserved lemon, white
pepper and a hint of small red fruits—a tell-tale sign of nobility in a
white wine—show on the nose. The mouth is a mille-feuille of fresh
butter and Meyer lemon, shot through with mineral energy and a finishing
twist of lemon rind. Despite its richness there is wonderful lift and
buoyancy on the palate; each sip is elegant and pure, with impressive
definition and poise.
