The Tressallier grape is native to Saint-Pourçain, and few other dry white wines deliver such invigorating bite, such bracing freshness. Aromas combine wild jasmine, sea spray and oyster shells, with plenty of lemon and lime zest. The mouth is precise and cut, with lots of minerals and zesty energy, and is very floral and expressive. The finish invigorates with white pepper, chalk and fresh herbs. 100% Tressallier, a rare grape native to south-central France; all tank made.
2010 Saint Pourçain Blanc
9.18.2011
What in the world is Tressallier? Possibly one of France’s oldest, rarest and most vibrant white wines, and one of her best-kept secrets, too. This bracing mineral white belongs on the table of those who love cut Loire whites and textbook Chablis (not to mention fresh seafood).
This is one bottle that will surprise, dazzle and perhaps confound even the more schooled wine lover, as Tressallier is ridiculously rare and cultivated only in the small region of Saint-Pourçain in rural south-central France. This 2010 is bone dry and vibrant, with a whiplash of citrus flavor on the palate and super-refreshing all around.
