Bracing and refreshing—Fie Gris delivers all the delightful and racy mineral energy one finds in the best Sauvignon Blanc with a flavorful complexity that even the top wines can only hope to match. Winemaker Jacky Preys’ vines are ancient—some as old as 100 years—and produce but a handful of fruit each vintage. This is a wine you take time with, as its kaleidoscope aromas and flavors are almost too many to count. Wildflowers, tarragon, white peaches and tomatillos make an appearance on the aromatic nose, with hints of kaffir lime and sea salt. Flavors on the mouth suggest a citrus salad with more sea salt, hints of lush white fruits and lots of chiseled, chalky precision. Juicy yet well-defined with every sip, Fie Gris does not disappoint. All tank made; very rare.
The most electric Loire white you've never heard of: Fie Gris
7.5.2011
This electric bottle of Fie Gris has to be one of our favorite and
certainly unique discoveries from the Loire Valley. We like to think of
Jacky Prey's singular Fie Gris wine as the ur-Sancerre, as it is Fie
Gris that gave birth to the grape we now know as Sauvignon Blanc. Refreshingly
pure and juicy, with loads of crisp white fruit and citrus pep, this
2009 Fie Gris is simply a gorgeous, aromatically rich wine and
incredibly rare, too. A must-try and a must-have for all lovers of
vibrant dry whites.

"...displays a Chablis-like combination of fresh lemon, rich chicken stock, herbs, and chalk. Surprisingly firm and bright for its vintage and with real cut and concentration...it should prove quite useful and interesting over the next several 2-3 years, and perhaps even beyond."--The Wine Advocate
