A classic, pure Pinot Noir chock-full of fresh red berry fruit and silky tannins. Aromas remind of ripe summer berry compote, mixing red raspberries, juicy blueberries and sweet strawberries. On the palate, flavors of black cherries and black raspberries dominate, with hints of pepper and baking spices. This small hillside vineyard is chock-full of limestone (Burgundy's heart and soul) and its vines are older (35-45 years) which means lower yields, more concentrated berries and a whole lot of flavor—yet still wonderfully fresh and balanced (just 12.5% alcohol). The wine is aged in older barrels.

The 2009 vintage has delivered an embarrassment of riches, yet it's even more embarrassing that every time we think we've found our ringer of the year, we up and find another one. The 2009 "Clos de Liron" is one classic, pure Burgundian Pinot Noir that is chock-full of fresh, red berry fruit and boasts refreshingly balanced alcohol AND is certainly one of the more delicious for the money in 2009! Very few new-world Pinots can give you this kind of persistence and purity while keeping that alcohol percentage in check—for a full-pleasure and full-flavor experience that is unquestionably Burgundian in its grace and character, "Clos de Liron" is one bottle that will deliver.
