The Sarrazin brothers’ older vines in “Champs Lalot” grow on chalky, clay-based soils right next to leading premier cru vineyards to the north of Givry proper—it’s why the quality here far surpasses its “simple” village status, and why it is every vintage a steal for its quality. Sweet, small red berries, a hint of earth and peppery spice flood the nose. Black cherries, raspberries and plums blend with a hint of lavender and pomegranate juice on the juicy, expressive and plush mouth. Gorgeously fresh and balanced and one of our favorite (should be a 1er!) from the Cote Chalonnaise.
