Another terroir treasure from the Sarrazin brothers--the secret to
"Perriere" is that it's surrounded by premier cru vineyards ("Clos
l’Évêque" is right next door) and is being considered by appellation
officials for a "bump up" itself in cru status. Until then, the secret
is ours (and yours.) A stunning, lush and very tempting Burgundy with
plenty of character and charm. Long, sweet and lush, with good spice
and body.

Various generations of the Sarrazin family have been crafting excellent
wine in the Côte Chalonnaise since the 17th century, which in our book
makes them a good source for the good stuff. Their Mercurey sums up
everything we love about this southern outpost of red Burgundy as well
as the house style of Sarrazin—this is natural, pure Pinot Noir, with
fresh, red fruits, a hint of autumn leaves, good spice and a long, juicy
finish.
