Many wine lovers will tell you there was a moment where what seemed a passing fancy
became an all-consuming passion. Perhaps it was during a holiday, at a small restaurant
where the local wine was a revelation; perhaps it was a bottle with flavors so profound
that it changed your perception of wine forever. For us, Burgundy, some three decades
ago, was that revelation.
Fine wine is always a sum of its parts—the land that feeds the grapes, the gentle
touch of a winemaker, and time, wine’s most ultimate master. Few regions illustrate
this confluence as well as does Burgundy in France. Winemaking here is often a family
affair, one that spans generations—each one learning, and improving, on the next.
Tradition and innovation are intertwined. Such elements aren’t unique to Burgundy,
but they are unique to fine wine. Which is why the lessons we learned early on in
Burgundy today still guide us in our endless quest to find the best wines the world
has to offer for you.
