Ca’ d’Gal Moscato

Delightful, ethereal Moscato d’Asti

Ponce de León was headed the wrong direction when he steered his ship toward Florida in seeking the fountain of youth. A train to Piedmont would have been far more expedient.

Hidden in the hills just outside the sleepy town of Nieve is Ca' d'Gal, home to Sandro Boido and his eternal springs of Moscato d'Asti. Capturing laughter in every delicate bubble, Moscato d'Asti is an effervescent elixir that lifts you up and slows time to a delicious crawl (and contains only 5% alcohol.)

In contrast to so many other mass-produced Moscato wines, Ca' d'Gal Moscato d'Asti is truly an artisanal nectar, harvested by hand and vinified naturally with extended lees contact. This added attention is what gives these delightful wines their unique personality—and surprising ability to age. Sandro Boido likes to pull out bottles from as far back as 1990 as proof that Moscato can be both youthful and long-lived.

“Lumine,” the estate's regular bottling, captures sunny notes of mandarin oranges and rose petals, illuminated by a lovely silver-gold effervescence on the tongue. “Vigna Vecchia” is a special selection of older vines, an irresistible, stunning wine that simply has no equal. Enjoy a glass of gilded white peaches and fresh mint, each sip a blinding flash of brilliant bubbles. Think the fountain of youth is just a myth? Think again.

2004 Ca’ d’Gal “Lumine” Moscato d’Asti

Freshly squeezed Mandarin orange juice and rose petals blend on the perfect nose, with notes of fresh cherries and Meyer lemon. Flavors of white peaches and pears melt on the tongue like cotton candy, perfectly light and balanced. Just a touch of frizzante bubble cleanses the palate. Very juicy, very refreshing. Only 5% alcohol.

2004 Ca’ d’Gal "Vigna Vecchia" Moscato d’Asti

Truly a vintage Moscato! Older vines (55+ years old) grow on very steep slopes, with fruit harvested entirely by hand. A noble, almost toasty nose reminds us of Champagne, with rich white and yellow peach aromas. Torn mint leaves, fresh Blenheim apricots and delicate nectarines come together on the palate. Abundantly juicy, deliciously complex; you simply have never tasted a Moscato as noble and as refined as “Vigna Vecchia.” Only 5,000 bottles produced!
