Philanthropist and entrepreneur Annunciata Bourn\u00e8 took over operations of a wine shop on Milan\u2019s Piazza San Babil\u00e0 in the 1880s, a time when unaccompanied women were not allowed into bars such as the popular Caff\u00e8 Campari. For her place \u2013 called Ginrosa American Bar \u2013 Bourn\u00e8 thus made a rule that unaccompanied men were not allowed! She also invented a new ap\u00e9ritif for her female clientele with a pink (rosa) hue and a more delicately balanced bitterness than is found in Campari. (And fun fact: both brands\u2019 namesake bars are still thriving today in the heart of Milan.)<\/p>\n

Annunciata Bourn\u00e8 and her family came from Oleggio Castello, in the northern Piedmont province of Varese (where there\u2019s a street named after her today). Thanks to her cousins, who at that time owned a fabbrica named Liquorificio Bourn\u00e8, she was able to bottle and commercialize her proprietary aperitivo and the legend of Ginrosa Bitter was born. Ginrosa closely guards its all-natural formula that\u2019s driven by conscientiously sourced pink juniper, cinchona, and other botanicals.<\/p>\n

A classic Milanese aperitivo bitters made from the infusion of assorted botanicals in a hydro-alcoholic solution to extract aromas and flavors. Added to this solution is a small amount of juniper berry distillate, as well as natural caramel and natural cochineal coloring. Essential ingredients include pink juniper, rhubarb, sweet & bitter orange, cassia, gentian root. ABV 25%<\/p>\n
