Caravaglio: Unparalleled “authenticity and intensity”

Jan 5, 2016

The most traditional wine from the Aeolian Islands, where Azienda Agricola Caravaglio is found, is a sweet wine made from the white grape Malvasia delle Lipari. Ripe grapes are left to dry naturally, concentrating their sugars, and are then pressed and the juice fermented. The result is a heavenly nectar, sweet yet balanced by a natural acidity and a touch of sea salt on the finish, the signature of the azure Mediterranean that surrounds these enchanted islands.

2013 Azienda Agricola Caravaglio Malvasia delle Lipari 500ml

Caravaglio’s authenticity and intensity are unparalleled. The 2013 Malvasia delle Lipari Passito (500 mililiter) is a traditional blend of 95% Malvasia and 5% Corinto Nero. Malvasia generally has difficulty reaching high levels of complexity, but this wine outperforms its peers. The bouquet delivers floral notes followed by exotic fruit, wild sage, crushed mineral, citrus and honey. In the mouth, it shows energy and vitality with soothing sweetness on the elegant finish. This dessert wine should hold for the next 10 years. -The Wine Advocate
